Social program
Following the tradition of IWORID the participants are invited to share as much time as possible together.
Our social program will hopefully provide a suitable platform for this mission!


The social program initiates with the welcome cocktail (more than just a drink!) on Sunday evening, in the conference venue "Stazione Marittima" located at the waterside and close to the beautiful "piazza  Unità d'Italia". For long time from this landing bridge huge outbound passenger liner filled with people seeking for a new life (including Albert Einstein) would sail to America.  

A boat trip (not to America but) in the golf of Trieste is scheduled on Monday evening which  will provide a different view on Trieste and its surrounding from the sea.

Guided walking tours in the city center are in the program for Tuesday evening and will complete your introduction to the city.

Stroll in Trieste, along the area built at the time of Maria Theresa of Austria, the seashore, the nice buildings along the Canale Grande and the main square. Walk till the hill of San Giusto where there are some roman remains of the old Tergeste and where now the cathedral is built. Panoramic view on the gulf of Trieste.


The conference dinner on Wednesday evening will not be the last event of the conference since the visit at the Elettra synchrotron radiation and the Fermi free electron facility will allow to perceive Trieste from the Carso plateau and spend the afternoon exchanging experiences and information with the colleagues.
